What do I bring to the lesson?
You only need boardshorts or swimmers and a towel, we supply wetshirts and or wetsuits if needed, softboards and legrops.
How many lessons do I need?
Depending on your level of surfing experience, we recommend that you do a minimum of at least 3-lessons if you are a total beginner.
Can I bring my own surfboard?
You can use your own surfboard if you are doing a private one on one lesson or 2-persons private lessons where both of you have some previous experience. All surf school operators are only licence to offer softboards for all other lessons.
What if it is raining?
You are going to get wet anyway! We do not cancel lessons if it is raining.
I have had some lessons before; do I go in the beginner’s class again?
Yes, however our coaches are experienced enough to gauge where you are at in your surfing to progress you each time you come. You can always upgrade to a private if you feel that you will gain more out of a private one on one lesson.
Where do we meet?
We presently meet at Burleigh Heads Mowbray Surf Life Savings Club.
How do we pay?
We require a credit card to secure all bookings, during peak Summer Holiday times we do require pre-payments for all lessons. You can pay by direct transfer, credit card over the phone or Paypal on our website.
What if I cancel on the morning of the lesson?
If you cancel on the morning of your lesson we unfortunately cannot refund you, we require a full 24 – 48 hours notice for all cancellations.
What if I can’t finish my packages?
If you are unable to finish you package of lessons you can only transfer them to family member, proof of this will be needed. You can ask to extend your timeframe if needed, this timeframe will be arranged between yourself and Godfathers of the Ocean.
How old do you have to be to learn to surf?
As long as you can swim 20 metres you can learn to surf, however we do request that children under the age of 7 years depending on their swimming capabilities have a private lesson. We do ask that a parent be on the beach or in the water for children who are 6 years and under.
My son is 15 years old can we just drop him off at the beach for his lesson?
No, you must come and sign your child in for their lesson at our bookings booth.
Can I get a refund if I miss a lesson?
Only if you give us 24 to 48 hours notice otherwise you will have forfeited your lesson.
